Very soon we’ll all be setting our clocks back an hour on a Saturday evening, relishing an excuse to get an extra hour of sleep, yet dreading everything else that comes with the end of Daylight Savings Time. Most of us don’t tend to look forward to shorter days, and have trouble adjusting to the change. It’s amazing how just an hour of time can make that much difference, right? Along with that extra hour of z’s, there might be a few things to actually look forward to when we fall back, as well as several ways to help breeze through the adjustment better than ever.

There’s no doubt cycling has become a way for many of us to get out of the house and connect with nature during this time of social distancing. For me, cycling became a way of life in the early 90s, and since then I have seen the evolution of mountain biking, the decline of American road cycling, and now the success of GRAVEL riding.
If you are not familiar with gravel riding, it is the latest trend in the world of cycling. Take a mountain bike and a traditional road bike, put them in a blender and what you come out with is the ultimate adventure machine. Gravel bikes feature drop bars for when on the tarmac, disc brakes for quick and easy braking, and wider tires for stability in the dirt.
May is National Bike Month, and we’d like to take this time to introduce you to the Petunia Mafia women’s cycling club, based in our home town of Boulder, CO. We chatted with Laura, the president of Petunia Mafia about all things cycling – from ride essentials to the greater meaning of being a part of this growing community.
1. BUILD A FORT
If you haven’t started fort building, this one is a life saver. You put in a little effort on the front end of putting it together, but then your kids have their own hideout – a new space in the house that is all theirs.
Once every four years, we get an extra day in February as part of our Leap Year, called Leap Day. As a result, we have a 366-day calendar year in 2020. What will you do with your extra 24 hours?
